Mummified Child Opens & Closes Eyes!

Rosalia Lombardo was two when a strong pneumonia ended his life on December 6, 1920 in his native Palermo, Italy. His devastated father made a special request to a renowned Italian physician of the time, Alfredo Salafia.

Salafia’s mission was to embalm retail Lombardo family. Their studies on mummification techniques used in the Egyptian pharaohs were the best introduction.

A few years ago the body was discovered in the Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo. For its perfect state it was called “Sleeping Beauty”.

Subsequent studies to determine the technique led a group of Italian scientists are installing a camera inside his sarcophagus, able to take pictures every 60 seconds.

The images collected show a strange phenomenon, small eyes are opened and closed several times a day. In an attempt to explain, the group of scientists said the camera flashes and the humidity generated a photo breakdown in the body, causing the eyes of small generating this effect. – elcomercio

She’s Been Dead For 90 Years, But When You Look In Her Eyes! I’m Speechless

(Before It’s News)

Nearly 100 years ago, a 2-year-old Italian girl named Rosalia Lombardo died of pneumonia. Her body was embalmed and placed into a glass coffin kept inside the Capuchin Catacombs in Palermo, Italy. Because of the way her body was embalmed, one glance and it looks as though she’s still alive — hence the nickname, “Sleeping Beauty,”

According to the video’s YouTube description, Rosalia’s father was so devastated upon her death that he approached Alfredo Salafia, a noted embalmer, to preserve her. Her body was one of the last corpses to be admitted to the Capuchin catacombs of Palermo in Sicily… and it’s one of the best preserved bodies in the catacombs.
But that’s only part of what makes Rosalia’s story so bizarre. Visitors of the catacombs have reported that her eyes appear to open and close, and in the video below you’ll see a timelapse of what’s either an anomaly, or an optical illusion. People are divided as to the explanation, and I myself don’t know what to think. It definitely looks like her eyes are closed in one picture and open in the next.
What do you think of this? Morbid, fascinating or a combination of both?
